Primitive Belgian bluestone coffee table

A unique primitive set of 2 raw stone coffee tables, handcrafted from an original piece of Belgian bluestone reclaimed from an old farmhouse in Northern France.

€ 3.200,-

The stones ware originally used as a cattle stall divider, traditionally known as a "sliet", a solid stone partition separating individual cattle stalls. After decades of use, the stone has acquired an authentic aged surface, natural patina and beautiful traces of its agricultural past.

The raw, monumental character of the Belgian bluestone has been preserved rather than overly refined. Its irregular edges, weathered surface and natural markings give the table a strong primitive and brutalist aesthetic.

Mounted as a coffee table, it combines European farmhouse history with contemporary rustic and brutalist design.

18th Century.
