'David' lounge chairs and hocker by Odile Mir for Delmas, produced for Prisunic, 1972

This rare set comes from a French collection in Nice, belonging to personal friends of the artist, and were part of the iconic "Filo" collection.

The design features a geometric chrome-plated tubular frame, with each corner subtly pointing upward. Metal springs integrated at the back corners and in the backrest support the cowhide sling seat. The striking contrast between white and brown hide gives the chair a powerful visual presence.

From every angle, this piece is a sculptural statement: architectural, minimal, and highly innovative, characteristic of 1970s design.

Odile Mir, a self-taught and recognized sculptor, was discovered by the industrial world, marking the beginning of her career as a designer. Her avant-garde aesthetic and preference for raw materials such as steel, leather, and textiles represent an important turning point in 20th-century French furniture design. Mir was one of the leading French female designers of the 20th century, her creations are durable & comfortable, yet inventive and aesthetically refined.
